Crack the vault by guessing the five-letter password.

About this game
Every day the bank changes its vault password. You get six guesses before the alarm goes off. Letters in the right place light up green, letters in the wrong place light up yellow.
- A new vault every day, the same for everyone
- Heist spree: vault after vault, until the alarm catches you
- Mitts the cat burglar lends you a stethoscope: one letter, once a week
- Share your heist without spoiling the word
How to play
The goal
Work out the vault's password. It's always a five-letter word, and every guess must be a real word the vault recognises.
Reading the tiles
- Green means the right letter in the right place.
- Yellow means the letter is in the password, but somewhere else.
- Grey means the letter isn't in the password at all.
- Repeated letters count one copy at a time. Guess two Es when the password has one, and only one E lights up.
- The keyboard keeps the best colour each letter has had so far.
Controls
- Touch or mouse: tap the on-screen keys, including Delete and Enter.
- Keyboard: type the letters, press Backspace to delete, Enter to guess and Esc to pause.
Daily vault
A new vault opens at midnight UTC. Cracking it on your first guess is worth 6,000 points, and each extra guess takes off 1,000. The clock starts with your first letter, and a quick crack earns a speed bonus of up to 300. A vault you don't crack scores nothing. Your streak counts the days in a row you crack it.
Heist spree
- Your first three guesses in each vault are quiet. After that, every guess that doesn't crack the vault lights one of six alarm lamps.
- Crack a vault in one or two guesses and a lit lamp goes out.
- Six lit lamps, or a vault you can't crack, ends the spree. You can also walk away from the pause menu and keep your points.
- Each vault you crack is worth a little more than the last.
Hard mode
Turn it on in Settings. Green letters must stay in place, and yellow letters must appear in every later guess. It takes effect from the next Daily vault or spree you start.
Help on the way
Your first three vaults start with one letter showing. Crack three vaults and Mitts lends you the stethoscope. Once a week, it listens for one letter of the password. Using it on the Daily vault costs 500 points.
