The small print

Cookies

The short version: we use one cookie to keep you signed in, and one that only appears if someone gives an age under 13. There are no advertising or tracking cookies and no analytics. Everything below is needed for the arcade to work, which is why we don't ask you to accept cookies and you won't see a cookie banner.

If we ever want to add something that isn't essential, such as analytics, we'll ask you first and update this page.

When you arrive through a link, the page you have open remembers where it came from, so we can record it if you make an account (see the privacy notice). That's kept in the page itself, not in a cookie or your browser's storage, and it's gone when you close the tab.

The cookies we set

__Secure-better-auth.session_token: Keeps you signed in. Set only when you sign in.; Kept 30 days, renewed when you come back. Signing out removes it.
arcade_age_block: Set only if someone gives a date of birth under 13, so they can’t make an account straight away with a different date. Accounts are for 13 and over.; Kept A day.

What else we keep in your browser

These aren't cookies: they live in your browser's storage and are never sent to us with your requests. Games use them to remember your progress, and the arcade uses them for a few small things.

arcade:unsaved:…: A guest's best score in a free game, so it can be saved to your account once you sign in.; Kept Until it’s saved, or an hour.
arcade:home-screen-hint:…: Remembers we’ve shown the “Play full screen” tip on an iPhone or iPad, so you see it once.; Kept Until you clear your browser’s data for the site.
arcade:visits, arcade:last-seen: Counts how many times you’ve visited (a new visit starts after half an hour away), so the tip about adding the arcade to your Home Screen waits until your third visit.; Kept Until you clear your browser’s data for the site.
arcade:install-hint: Remembers we’ve shown the Home Screen tip, so you see it once.; Kept Until you clear your browser’s data for the site.
arcade:push-offer-dismissed: Remembers you said “Not now” to notifications after joining a group, so we don’t ask again. You can still turn them on in Preferences.; Kept Until you clear your browser’s data for the site.
arcade:streak-push-offer-dismissed: Remembers you said “Not now” to a reminder before a streak ends, so we don’t ask again. You can still turn notifications on in Preferences.; Kept Until you clear your browser’s data for the site.
arcade:game-push-note: Remembers we’ve told you that notifications now include friends’ scores and streak reminders, so you see it once.; Kept Until you clear your browser’s data for the site.
arcade:full-window-hint: Remembers we’ve shown the tip about Safari’s bar when a game fills the screen on an iPad, so you see it once.; Kept Until you clear your browser’s data for the site.
arcade:birth-date-later: Remembers you chose “Later” when we asked for your date of birth, so we don’t ask again until your next visit. It’s in the tab’s own storage.; Kept Until you close the tab.
emoji-picker-element-en: The list of emoji for the chat’s emoji picker, so it opens quickly the next time.; Kept Until you clear your browser’s data for the site.
<game>:profile, saved games: Each game keeps your progress, settings and any game in progress on your device (on play.unabatedgamesarcade.com), so it starts at once and carries on where you left off.; Kept Until you clear your browser’s data for the game.

Other services your browser talks to

Some parts of the arcade load from other companies' servers. They see your IP address and browser details when they do, and their own privacy policies apply.

Stripe runs the checkout when you buy coins or the Arcade Pass, on Stripe's own pages. Stripe sets its own cookies there to prevent fraud. See Stripe's privacy policy and cookie policy.
Cloudflare carries every request to the arcade and protects it from attacks. If it suspects a visitor is a bot, it can set a short-lived security cookie (__cf_bm or cf_clearance). See Cloudflare's cookie policy.
GIPHY: GIFs in chat, and in the GIF picker, load from GIPHY's servers. See GIPHY's privacy policy.
Pictures in groups and chat: a group's picture and the pictures in link previews load from the site that hosts them.

Clearing them

Signing out removes the sign-in cookie. Your browser's settings can delete the rest: clear the site data for unabatedgamesarcade.com and play.unabatedgamesarcade.com. Clearing a game's data deletes any progress that only lives on this device, so sign in first if you want to keep it.
