Brick Storm

Bounce the ball, smash the bricks, catch the power-ups. Brick Storm is the breakout formula with the brightness turned all the way up.

• Ten hand-built levels, then a storm that never ends
• 12 power-ups, including the forbidden triple-paddle
• A Daily Storm: five levels, the same for everyone
• Most levels take a minute or two

The goal

Break every brick to clear the level, and keep the ball in play with your paddle. You start with three lives. You lose one when your last ball drops past the paddle.

Controls

• Touch: drag anywhere to move the paddle, and lift your finger to launch the ball.
• Mouse: the paddle follows the pointer. Click to launch.
• Keyboard: ← and → or A and D move the paddle. Space or ↑ launches. Esc or P pauses.

Where the ball meets the paddle sets its angle, so hit it near an end to send it off sideways. The ball speeds up as a rally goes on, and on later levels.

Bricks

• Glass bricks break in one hit.
• Tough bricks take two or three hits.
• Steel bricks never break, and you don't need to clear them.
• Bombs break every brick around them.

Power-ups

Broken bricks sometimes drop a capsule. Catch it with the paddle. Ten help you: multiball, a wide paddle, a magnet that holds the ball, lasers, a slow ball, a fireball that smashes straight through bricks, an extra life, a barrier that saves one ball, the triple paddle and 500 points. Two don't: shrink and speed up. Losing a life switches off any power-up with a timer.

Modes

• Arcade: level after level with no end. Once you reach level 11, 21 and so on, you can start from there next time.
• Daily Storm: five levels and three lives, the same for everyone that day.

Scoring

• A glass brick scores 50 points. Tough bricks and bombs score more.
• Break four bricks before the ball comes back to the paddle and your combo goes up to ×1.5. Every four more adds another ×0.5, up to ×4.
• Clearing a level earns a bonus, bigger on later levels and for every life you have left.
